Setup, Compatibility & Care
Installation requires standard woodworking tools, including a drill, screws, and potentially L-brackets or timber cleats to secure the topper to your existing fence posts or top rail. Ensure that your existing structure can support the added weight of the wood and the future growth of climbing plants.
To maximize the life of the timber:
- Ensure the base of the panels is not sitting in standing water or damp soil.
- Although pressure-treated, applying a high-quality exterior wood stain or preservative every 2-3 years will prevent the timber from turning grey due to UV exposure.
- Inspect the mounting hardware annually to ensure connections remain tight, especially if the trellis is carrying heavy plant growth.
