The kit includes the hasp and padlock, but you should purchase high-tensile, tamper-resistant bolts that match your specific door material.
The Scan Heavy-Duty Van Hasp & Padlock holds a security rating of 8.
Because it uses a high-security 6-pin brass cylinder, you should consult a professional locksmith to ensure additional keys are cut to the correct profile.
Key retention ensures you cannot accidentally leave the padlock unlocked, as the key cannot be removed until the padlock is securely locked.
Yes, the chrome-plated finish is designed to resist environmental wear and corrosion, making it suitable for sheds and exterior van doors.
Apply a small amount of graphite powder or silicone lubricant into the keyway and work the key in and out gently.
Ensure the shackle is pushed fully into the locking housing. Check for any debris caught in the shackle slots.
To install, ensure the hasp is aligned on a level surface using all six mounting holes. Use high-quality, tamper-resistant bolts that correspond with the 8.8mm diameter holes. When closing the hasp, verify that the padlock snaps securely; the key retention feature will keep the key in the cylinder until the shackle is fully locked. For maintenance, periodically apply a silicone-based lubricant to the cylinder and shackle mechanism to keep the movement smooth and prevent internal corrosion. Wipe the chrome exterior with a soft cloth to remove road salt or debris that might encourage surface rust over time.
