No, the Perry Heavy Brenton Padbolt does not include a padlock.
The galvanised finish offers high rust resistance, but in very high-salinity coastal areas, it is recommended to clean it periodically to prevent surface oxidation.
This bolt is designed primarily for timber gates. If installing on metal, you may need specific self-tapping metal screws which are not included.
The bolt size is 150mm, providing significant reach for secure closure.
A light inspection and re-lubrication every 6 months is usually sufficient to maintain smooth movement.
Ensure the housing and the keep are perfectly aligned. Apply a small amount of silicone lubricant to the bolt shaft.
Check that the pilot holes are not stripped. If the timber is worn, use slightly longer or thicker screws, or fill the holes with wood filler and re-drill.
To install the padbolt, position the main bolt housing on the gate and the corresponding keep on the gate post, ensuring they are perfectly aligned to allow the bolt to slide freely. Use high-quality wood screws to secure the unit firmly to the timber. For optimal longevity, ensure the gate is stable and that the hardware is not under excessive tension. While the galvanised finish is resistant to rust, you can occasionally apply a light silicone-based lubricant to the bolt slide to maintain smooth operation. Always use a hardened steel padlock for the best security results when the bolt is in the locked position.
