Full details

The VELUX Solar Integra Roof Window (GGL) is designed for homeowners seeking effortless natural light and ventilation control, especially in hard-to-reach areas. Its key benefit is the wire-free, solar-powered operation that simplifies installation and adds modern convenience. A potential consideration is its reliance on sunlight for charging, which may impact operation in consistently overcast conditions. This centre-pivot roof window features an integrated, silent motor, automatic closing via a rain sensor, and a clean white painted finish.

FAQs

How is the window powered if it's wireless?

The window is powered by a solar panel integrated into the frame. This panel charges an internal battery that powers the motor for opening and closing.

Do I need an electrician to install this window?

No, the solar-powered, wireless design eliminates the need for electrical wiring, making installation significantly easier and potentially allowing for DIY installation depending on your comfort level with roof work.

What happens if it's cloudy for several days?

The solar battery is designed to store enough power for multiple operations even after periods of low sunlight. However, prolonged lack of sun may reduce operational frequency.

Can I control this window with a remote control?

You control the window via a dedicated wall switch. Some systems may offer integration with smart home hubs for remote control, but the primary control is the wall switch.

What are the dimensions of this specific window?

The dimensions of this model are 780mm x 978mm.

Is the white finish durable?

Yes, the white painted finish is protected by a water-based lacquer designed to resist moisture, dirt, and wear, while preserving a discreet wood grain aesthetic.

Can I install blinds with this window?

Absolutely. This roof window is compatible with VELUX's full range of internal and external blinds, allowing you to customize light and privacy.

Troubleshooting

Window does not open or close

Check if the solar panel is receiving sufficient sunlight. Ensure the battery is charged. Verify the connection with the wall switch and try re-pairing the window and switch. Clean the solar panel.

Rain sensor is not functioning correctly

Ensure the sensor is clean and free from obstructions. Refer to the manual for any sensitivity adjustment options.

Motor is noisy

While the motor is designed to be silent, any unusual noise may indicate an obstruction or a mechanical issue. Contact VELUX support if the problem persists.

Window is difficult to clean

Utilize the centre-pivot function to rotate the window 180 degrees for easy access to the exterior pane. Use a soft cloth and appropriate cleaning solution.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: Installation requires fitting the roof window into the prepared roof opening according to VELUX guidelines. The solar panel and motor are integrated. Pairing the window with its wall switch is typically a straightforward process. Ensure the solar panel has clear access to sunlight for optimal charging.

Compatibility: This window is designed for roof pitches between 15° and 90°. It is compatible with VELUX's full range of internal and external blinds and shutters, allowing for customization of light, heat, and privacy control. A compatible VELUX wall switch (often sold as part of a control system) is required for manual operation.

Care: The white painted finish is protected by a water-based lacquer and can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The exterior glass features an easy-to-clean treatment that helps dirt wash away with rainwater; for stubborn marks, a standard glass cleaner can be used. Regularly check the solar panel for debris that might obstruct sunlight.
