Prunus x subhirtella 'Autumnalis Rosea' offers a unique attraction for any garden, flowering through autumn and winter when other plants are bare. This tree is a must-have for creating all-year-round colour interest in smaller spaces. As autumn approaches, it bursts forth in masses of pale-pink, semi-double flowers opening from dark pink buds. These delicate, bell-shaped flowers look stunning in a frosty garden and remain on the branches throughout winter. As the weather warms, the flowers turn to small, glossy fruits, attracting birds, butterflies, and bees. The tree has ovate, dark-green leaves that mature to vibrant tones of orange, red, and yellow before falling. It grows in most soil types but prefers full sun for the best autumn colours. Reaching heights of around 4m with a 4m spread in 20 years, it's ideal for smaller or urban gardens, tolerating pollution well. It grows in a classic Japanese cherry blossom shape and requires minimal maintenance, with optional early-year branch trimming for shape. Delight guests with its magnificent display of blossoms in the middle of winter.
