FAQs

What is the primary advantage of the single-piece carbon steel construction?

The single-piece forging provides superior strength, durability, and prevents the blade from separating from the handle under heavy use, unlike trowels with riveted or welded constructions.

How does the 'Wide London' pattern differ from a standard London pattern?

The Wide London pattern features a broader blade, which allows for carrying and applying more mortar or concrete at once, potentially increasing efficiency on larger projects.

Is this trowel suitable for concrete work as well as bricklaying?

Yes, the robust construction and blade design make it suitable for applying and smoothing concrete in addition to its primary use in bricklaying with mortar.

How does the DuraSoft handle benefit the user?

The DuraSoft handle offers a soft, cushioned grip that reduces vibrations and hand fatigue during prolonged use, enhancing comfort and control.

What maintenance is required for this trowel?

Regular cleaning with water after use, thorough drying to prevent rust, and proper storage in a dry environment are essential for maintaining its condition.

Where is this trowel manufactured?

This Marshalltown brick trowel is manufactured in the USA.

Troubleshooting

Blade feels stiff or sticky with mortar.

Ensure the blade is thoroughly cleaned and dried after each use. For stubborn residue, use a soft brush and water, then dry completely.

Handle feels uncomfortable during prolonged use.

While the DuraSoft handle is designed for comfort, ensure you are using proper grip techniques. Take short breaks during extensive work sessions.

Noticeable wear or damage to the blade.

Inspect the trowel regularly. For minor wear, continued use may be acceptable. Significant damage may require replacement of the tool.
