Our ClassicBond rubber roof kits are a modern alternative to traditional roofing felt with major added benefits. This kit contains the EPDM rubber roofing membrane and accompanying adhesives. There are two types of adhesive: water-based adhesive and contact adhesive. Water-based adhesive is used as the main deck adhesive as it is easy and quick to apply and doesn't bond instantly, allowing the membrane to be manoeuvred into place during application. Contact adhesive is applied in a 6-inch width around the entire perimeter and to bond the membrane to any upstands as it provides an instant bond. The membrane size is 2.5m x 2.5m. You will need to ensure you have adequate overhang, we recommend allowing a minimum of 150mm to each edge, so 300mm to both the length and width of your roof. We recommend using some form of flat roofing trim around the perimeter of your roof to secure the edges and prevent wind uplift. Please also note EPDM is designed to be laid over OSB3/Timber Boards and should not be overlaid on to existing roof surfaces such as felt/asphalt. ClassicBond EPDM is the original EPDM roofing system and is recognised as one of the most reliable, durable and sustainable materials for your flat roof. The EPDM roofing system provides ultimate longevity, with a proven track record of over 50 years service life. With maintenance-free properties, the EPDM membrane is strong yet lightweight and is not affected by extreme temperatures. Within the temperature range of -40ºC to +120ºC, the membrane will not crack, peel or split. Unlike traditional flat roof coverings like felt, this EPDM rubber roofing membrane is cold-applied, meaning there is no use of a naked flame to adhere the membrane. For this reason, EPDM is far safer to install. This rubber roofing system is designed with ease of application in mind. Supplied in one piece, there is no need to carry out tedious joins on site, making the system a lot easier to install (membrane can be joined using seam tape and primer on roofs with extensive detail). ClassicBond EPDM is approved by the BBA (British Board of Agrément) and has a BROOF(t4) fire rating, meaning this flat roofing system is the perfect solution for any project that must meet current building regulations in the UK.
