Wisteria sinensis is a little less vigorous than other wisterias, reaching a mature height of 9m. Its prolific flowering habit makes this Wisteria the ideal specimen plant for training onto sunny walls or covering unsightly outbuildings with stunning late spring colour. This variety benefits from being vigorous and fast growing, yet maintains a more compact habit (reaching a mature height of around 9m), making it ideal for training on to sunny walls or pergolas. Grow wisteria plants in a sunny or semi shaded site in any moist, well-drained soil. Wisteria flower buds can be damaged by hard spring frosts so choose a sheltered position. Prior to planting add plenty of well-rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate and sturdy support, such as strong trellis or wires attached to walls and pergolas. Feed and water regularly until fully established.
