Full details
The Peter Storm Packable Cagoule is designed for adult hikers, commuters, and outdoor enthusiasts who need reliable, portable weather protection. Its primary benefit is its highly packable design that ensures you remain dry during sudden downpours without the bulk of a traditional rain jacket; however, users should note that the baggy fit, while ideal for layering, may feel loose if worn over light clothing.

FAQs
Is this jacket truly waterproof?
Yes, it is fully waterproof with a 3000mm hydrostatic head rating, suitable for protecting against rain.
How do I pack the jacket?
The jacket is designed to be folded or stuffed into the included compact stuff sack.
Can I wear this in the winter?
The cagoule is lightweight and does not provide insulation, but its baggy fit allows for wearing warm layers like sweaters or fleeces underneath.
How should I wash it?
Use a gentle, non-biological detergent and wash on a cold, delicate cycle. Avoid fabric softeners.
What does the 3000mm hydrostatic head mean?
It indicates the fabric can withstand a column of water 3000mm high before moisture begins to penetrate the material.
Troubleshooting
Water appears to soak into the fabric instead of beading off
The DWR coating has worn off; apply a waterproof re-proofer spray to the outer shell.
Moisture buildup inside the jacket
Ensure you are not over-layering. While the material is moisture-wicking, intense activity in a fully waterproof shell can still result in condensation.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Extremely lightweight and compact
- High level of waterproofing for its class
- Versatile baggy fit allows for thick layering underneath
- Easy to stow away in its own stuff sack
Cons
- Baggy fit may be too loose for some users
- Single pocket limits storage capacity
- Material is lightweight, which may require careful handling around sharp objects
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your cagoule, follow these care guidelines:
- Storage: Always ensure the jacket is completely dry before folding it into the stuff sack to prevent mildew.
- Cleaning: Hand wash or machine wash on a delicate cycle with cold water; avoid using harsh detergents or fabric softeners that can degrade the waterproof coating.
- Drying: Air dry only. Do not tumble dry or place directly on a heater as high heat can damage the nylon fabric and waterproof membrane.
- Maintenance: If the water-beading performance decreases over time, consider using a spray-on DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment designed for technical outerwear.
