FAQs

Can these be used for river fishing?

Yes, their sinking design makes them suitable for flowing water where you need the bait to reach the bottom quickly.

Do I need to soak these in flavor?

It is not required, but many anglers choose to soak them in bait dips to mimic the scent of their chosen groundbait.

Are these reusable?

Yes, as long as they are not damaged by hook penetration or fish teeth, they can be cleaned and reused for many sessions.

How do they compare to real casters?

They mimic the appearance perfectly but lack the natural scent and nutritional value of real casters.

What is the best way to attach them?

The most effective method is using a fine-gauge bait needle to thread them onto a hair rig.

Troubleshooting

Bait sliding down the hook during casting

Ensure you are using a dedicated hair stop or a small piece of rig tubing to secure the caster on the hair.

Fish ignoring the imitation caster

Try adding a small amount of liquid flavor soak to the bait prior to casting or combine it with a real caster to add a natural scent profile.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Highly resistant to small fish and nuisance species
Maintains a consistent presentation over long periods
Excellent for creating balanced or tipped bait setups
Durable enough for repeated casting

Cons

No natural biological scent or flavor release
Requires proper hook mounting to ensure natural movement
Cannot be used as a primary food source for fish attraction

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To achieve the best results, use a sharp bait needle to thread the caster onto your rig's hair. These baits are compatible with standard carp fishing rigs, including blow-back rigs and snowman setups. Because they are non-biodegradable, they should be stored in your tackle box in a dry, cool place when not in use. Unlike organic bait, they do not require refrigeration. Simply rinse them with fresh water after a session to remove any lake silt or algae residue before returning them to your tackle container.
