Product Information

Full details

The Dynamite Source Shelf Life Boilies (18mm, 1Kg) are designed for anglers seeking a reliable, high-protein bait with a proven track record for attracting large carp and specimen barbel. Its unique fishmeal scent and spicy flavor, combined with a satisfying crunch, make it a top choice for unknown waters and overseas trips. A potential caveat is its strong, distinctive smell, which may not appeal to all fishing conditions or preferences.

FAQs

What makes 'The Source' bait so effective?

'The Source' uses a unique, high-protein fishmeal base combined with Haiths Robin Red® for flavour and colour, and crushed eggshell for texture. This combination is highly attractive to carp and has been proven successful for over a decade.

Are these boilies suitable for beginners?

Yes, their proven effectiveness and ease of use make them an excellent choice for both novice and experienced anglers, especially when fishing unfamiliar waters.

Can I use these boilies all year round?

The Source boilies are designed for year-round use. Their potent attractors can be effective even in colder water temperatures, although fishing success will always depend on various environmental factors and fish behaviour.

What is the shelf life of these boilies?

As shelf-life boilies, they are preserved and designed to last for an extended period when stored correctly in their sealed bag in a cool, dry place. They do not require refrigeration.

How do I best use the 1kg bag?

The 1kg bag is ideal for shorter trips or for anglers wanting to test the bait. It can be used as hook baits or scattered as free offerings. Remember to reseal the bag tightly after use.

Are there larger hook-bait options available?

Yes, Dynamite offers 26mm Source boilies specifically designed as larger hook baits, available in a 350g re-sealable bag.

Do I need to do anything special to prepare them?

No, these are ready to use straight from the bag. Simply attach them to your rig or use them as part of your baiting strategy.

Troubleshooting

Boilies seem to have lost their smell/attraction.

Ensure the bag has been properly resealed after each use. Store in an airtight container if the original bag is damaged. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or high temperatures.

Difficulty getting boilies onto the hair rig.

Ensure you are using an appropriate baiting needle. If the boilie is particularly hard, a slightly larger needle or pre-drilling with a fine drill bit might be necessary, though this can affect attractiveness.

Attracting too many small fish or nuisance species.

Consider using larger hook baits (e.g., the 26mm option if available) or presenting them as part of a larger PVA bag mix to make them harder for smaller fish to consume quickly.

Boilies breaking apart when casting.

Check the condition of the boilies; very old or damaged baits may be more fragile. Ensure your casting technique is smooth and not overly aggressive.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Highly effective with a long history of success in attracting large fish.
Uses quality, natural ingredients for superior performance.
The unique texture and scent are specifically designed to appeal to carp.
Shelf-stable and comes in resealable packaging, maintaining freshness.
Versatile for various fishing scenarios, including unknown waters and international trips.
Good value, especially with the 5kg bulk bag option.

Cons

The strong, distinctive smell might be overpowering in certain conditions or to some anglers.
May be less effective in waters where highly specific, subtle baits are preferred.
As a shelf-life boilie, it might not possess the same complex attractors as some fresh or frozen baits.
Requires careful storage to maintain optimal freshness despite being shelf-life.
Attracts a wide range of species, which might not always be desirable if targeting only specific types of fish.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup:

The 18mm Source Shelf Life Boilies are versatile and can be used in various ways:
On the Hair Rig: Use as a hook bait, either singly or in combination with other baits like pop-ups or plastic corn.
As Free Offerings: Scatter them around your rig to create an attractive feeding area.
In PVA Bags/Mesh: Combine with pellets, groundbait, or other small particles for targeted baiting.
Ensure your hook length and rig components are strong enough to handle potentially large fish attracted by this potent bait.

Compatibility:

Rigging: Compatible with standard carp fishing rigs (e.g., chod rigs, Ronnie rigs, KD rigs).
Bait Combinations: Pairs well with other fishmeal baits, sweetcorn, or artificial hook baits. They can also complement PVA bag mixes effectively.
Environment: Suitable for use in most freshwater environments, from lakes and reservoirs to rivers.

Care:

Storage: Keep the boilies in their original re-sealable bag or an airtight container to maintain freshness and prevent drying out.
Temperature: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
Hygiene: Always wash your hands after handling the bait. Ensure any unused bait is stored correctly to prolong its usability.
