Grow and harvest your own delicious patty pans with this colourful mix of Summer Patty Pan squashes, including the varieties 'Twinkle F1', 'Kermit F1', and 'Polo'. These versatile squashes can be picked at various stages: golf ball sized for raw consumption, 7cm fruits for steaming or stir-fries, or mature squashes for stuffing and baking. Squash 'Summer Mix' offers prolific crops from June to October, with mature fruits storing well. The bushy plants have long, spiny stems that produce abundant scalloped fruits if harvested regularly. Sow seeds indoors from April to May, 3-4 weeks before the last spring frost, planting 1cm deep in moist seed compost. Maintain a temperature of 20-25°C and keep the soil moist but not waterlogged. Germination typically takes 5-7 days. Alternatively, sow directly outdoors once the soil has warmed and the risk of frost has passed. Transplant seedlings at the 2-leaf stage into 13cm pots for a few weeks before planting them 60cm apart in a sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well-drained soil. Supplied as 1x Squash 'Summer Mix' seed packet (approx. 6 seeds) with growing and care instructions. Harvest period: June to October.
