The Bosch Disc Rotor Magnet is an essential component for e-bike riders who rely on accurate speed monitoring for their BDU3XX or BDU4XX drive systems. Designed for seamless integration with 6-hole disc rotor setups, this original Bosch component ensures consistent communication between the magnet and the speed sensor, though it is exclusively compatible with specific Bosch drive units and requires precise alignment to function correctly.

No, this specific magnet is designed for 6-hole disc rotors only.
Yes, it must be mounted to align with the speed sensor mounted on the bike's chainstay to function correctly.
No, this magnet is specifically engineered for the BDU3XX and BDU4XX series drive units.
Remove the magnet, clean the mounting surface, and ensure it is tightened to the recommended torque specification to prevent shifting.
If your new rotors are also 6-hole and the magnet can be safely transferred, you may not need a new one; however, ensure the magnet remains flat and secure against the new rotor surface.
Check that the magnet is perfectly aligned with the speed sensor and ensure the gap is consistent and within manufacturer specifications.
This indicates a speed sensor signal issue. Clean the magnet of any metal dust, confirm the sensor is not loose, and check for broken wires.
To install, secure the magnet firmly to your 6-hole disc rotor using the appropriate torque specifications provided by your rotor manufacturer. Proper alignment is critical; the magnet must pass within a few millimeters of the speed sensor on your chainstay to trigger it effectively. Check the gap regularly, as vibrations can cause the sensor to shift over time. Maintenance involves periodic inspection of the magnet for cracks or debris and confirming that the sensor cable is not pinched or frayed during the wheel installation process.
