Full details

The Godox AD100 Pro is designed for photographers seeking a compact yet powerful portable studio flash. Its key benefit is offering studio-level flash output in a palm-sized unit, ideal for on-the-go shooting. A potential caveat is its limited power compared to larger strobes, making it best suited for fill light or smaller group settings. This portable pocket studio flash excels in weddings, events, and location shoots, featuring a removable battery, a versatile zoom head compatible with Godox AK-R1 modifiers, high-speed sync, and TTL auto-exposure.

FAQs

How many flashes can I get from a full battery charge?

A fully charged 7.2V/2600mAh lithium battery provides approximately 360 full-power flashes.

Can I use modifiers from other brands?

The AD100 Pro's magnetic mount is designed for specific modifiers like the Godox AK-R1 kit. For wider compatibility with Bowens-mount modifiers, you will need to use the Godox S2 bracket.

What is High-Speed Sync (HSS)?

High-Speed Sync allows you to use shutter speeds faster than your camera's standard sync speed, enabling you to reduce ambient light or freeze fast action while still using flash.

Is the battery compatible with other Godox flashes?

Yes, the battery for the AD100 Pro is the same as the battery used in the Godox V1 flash, making them interchangeable.

What is the recycle time for the Godox AD100 Pro?

The recycle time ranges from 0.01 seconds to 1.5 seconds, depending on the power setting.

Can I control the flash remotely?

Yes, the AD100 Pro can be controlled remotely using Godox X-series wireless triggers, allowing adjustments to power, group, and mode from a distance.

Troubleshooting

Flash not firing

Ensure the battery is charged and correctly inserted. Check that the flash is properly paired with the wireless trigger and that the trigger is synced with the camera. Verify that the flash power is not set to the lowest setting or turned off. Check if HSS or TTL modes are enabled and compatible with your camera settings.

Inconsistent flash output

Check the battery level; a low battery can cause fluctuations. Ensure the flash head and any attached modifiers are securely in place. If using TTL, ensure the camera's exposure compensation is set appropriately. Try resetting the flash to factory default settings.

Wireless trigger not connecting

Ensure both the flash and the trigger have sufficient battery power. Confirm they are set to the same channel and group. Try restarting both the flash and the trigger. Check for any firmware updates for your trigger and flash.

Modifier not fitting securely

For magnetic mount modifiers, ensure the surface of the flash head is clean and free of debris. For the S2 bracket, confirm it is securely attached to the flash and that the Bowens-mount modifier is properly locked into the bracket.

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup: To set up the AD100 Pro, first ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Mount the flash head onto your camera's hot shoe or a light stand using the included bracket. If using on-camera, attach it to the camera's hot shoe. For off-camera use, mount it on a stand and connect to your camera system using a Godox wireless trigger. For modifiers, attach them directly to the magnetic mount on the flash head or use the S2 bracket for Bowens-mount accessories.

Compatibility: The AD100 Pro is compatible with most major camera brands for TTL and HSS functions when used with a compatible Godox X-series wireless trigger. The Godox V1 battery is interchangeable. The flash head itself accepts modifiers designed for its magnetic mount (e.g., Godox AK-R1 accessories) and can be adapted for Bowens-mount modifiers via the Godox S2 bracket.

Care: Keep the flash head clean and dry. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe down the exterior. Avoid exposing the flash to extreme temperatures or moisture. Store the flash and its battery in a protective case when not in use. Periodically check the battery contacts for cleanliness.
