FAQs
What is the Hape Outdoor Art Easel Set made of?
The easel's main body is constructed from durable, weather-resistant wood, while the drawing surface is a transparent, easy-to-clean material.
Can two children use the easel at the same time?
Yes, absolutely! The easel features a double-sided design, specifically engineered to allow two children to create art simultaneously, promoting cooperative play.
How do I clean the transparent drawing surface?
The transparent drawing surface can be easily cleaned with mild soap and water. Use a soft cloth or sponge and avoid abrasive cleaners to prevent scratching.
Is the Hape Art Paper Roll included with the easel?
No, the Hape Art Paper Roll is compatible with the easel but is sold separately. You can still use individual sheets of paper with the included holders and clips, or draw directly on the transparent surface.
What accessories are included in the set?
The set comes with a plastic tray with a lid, a foam paint roller, two paint trays, two paper holders, and three leaf-shaped clips to enhance the artistic experience.
Does this easel encourage using natural materials for art?
Yes, it's designed to inspire creativity by encouraging children to use natural objects like leaves, sticks, and flowers as unique 'brushes' or art materials found in their outdoor environment.
Is assembly required for the easel?
Yes, some assembly is required to set up the Hape Outdoor Art Easel Set. Please refer to the detailed instructions included in the packaging for proper and secure assembly.
Troubleshooting
Easel feels wobbly after assembly.
Ensure all screws and connections are securely tightened according to the assembly instructions. Periodically check all fasteners for tightness, especially after initial use or relocation.
Paint or marks are difficult to remove from the transparent drawing surface.
For best results, clean the drawing surface promptly after use. Use a soft cloth or sponge with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners, abrasive scrubbers, or solvents, as these may damage or scratch the surface.
Paper slips or doesn't stay in place with the clips.
Ensure the paper is positioned flat against the surface before applying the leaf-shaped clips. Make sure the clips are firmly pressed against both the paper and the easel surface. If using very thick or very thin paper, adjust placement or use multiple clips as needed.

Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
Upon receiving your Hape Outdoor Art Easel Set, some assembly will be required. Carefully follow the included instructions to secure all components. Ensure all screws and fasteners are tightened properly for stability before use. A second person may be helpful during assembly.
Compatibility
- Hape Art Paper Roll: The easel is designed to be compatible with the Hape Art Paper Roll for extended drawing surfaces (sold separately).
- Standard Paper: You can use standard art paper sheets by securing them with the provided paper holders and leaf-shaped clips.
- Paint: Compatible with most child-safe, washable paints. Consider outdoor-friendly paints for easier cleanup.
Care
- Cleaning the Drawing Surface: The transparent drawing surface is designed for easy cleaning. Simply wipe it down with mild soap and water using a soft cloth or sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaners or scrubbing materials that could scratch the surface.
- Wooden Body Care: The easel's body is made of durable, weather-resistant wood. For general cleaning, wipe with a damp cloth. While weather-resistant, prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions (heavy rain, direct sun for extended periods) may accelerate wear. Storing it under cover when not in use can extend its lifespan.
- Accessory Cleaning: Wash the plastic tray, paint trays, and foam roller with mild soap and water after each use.
