Setup, Compatibility & Care
Sowing/Planting: Sow seeds directly into the garden or containers in May to June. For container planting, use a good quality potting mix and ensure the pot has drainage holes. Parsley can also be transplanted as a young plant, typically purchased in a 9cm pot.
Location: Choose a sunny spot that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight per day. It can tolerate partial shade, but growth may be less vigorous.
Soil: Prefers fertile, well-drained soil. Amending with compost before planting can improve soil structure and nutrient content.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water at the base of the plant when the top inch of soil feels dry. Avoid overhead watering, as this can encourage fungal diseases like mildew.
Harvesting: Begin harvesting leaves from June to September. Cut outer stems near the base to encourage continuous growth. Do not harvest more than one-third of the plant at a time.
Compatibility: This parsley variety is compatible with most common garden vegetables and herbs. It grows well in raised beds and traditional herb gardens. Its manageable size makes it ideal for companion planting alongside tomatoes or carrots.
