Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup and Use:
- Ensure both vehicles are switched off and the parking brakes are engaged.
- Connect the red (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the *dead* battery.
- Connect the other red (+) clamp to the positive (+) terminal of the *donor* battery.
- Connect the black (-) clamp to the negative (-) terminal of the *donor* battery.
- Connect the final black (-) clamp to an unpainted metal surface on the engine block or chassis of the *dead* vehicle, away from the battery.
- Start the donor vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
- Attempt to start the dead vehicle.
- Once the dead vehicle has started, disconnect the cables in the reverse order: black clamp from the chassis, black clamp from the donor battery, red clamp from the donor battery, red clamp from the (now running) dead vehicle.
Compatibility:
These cables are suitable for vehicles with engine sizes up to 9.5L. Always ensure the battery voltage matches (typically 12V for cars and light commercial vehicles).
Care:
- After use, clean the clamps and ensure they are free from corrosion.
- Store the cables neatly coiled, avoiding sharp kinks.
- Keep the cables away from excessive heat and sharp objects.
- Inspect regularly for any signs of damage to the insulation or clamps.
