Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Choose a location: Select a sheltered spot in your garden, away from direct sunlight and prevailing winds. Ensure the entrance faces away from the prevailing wind and is somewhat concealed.
- Prepare the ground: Place the house on a level surface. You may want to elevate it slightly to prevent dampness.
- Add bedding: Fill the house with dry leaves, hay, or straw. Make sure the bedding is clean and dry.
- Camouflage: Cover the house with natural materials like leaves and branches to help it blend into the surroundings.
Compatibility:
The Woodside Hedgehog House is compatible with most garden environments. It is designed to be predator-proof, but it is not a guarantee against all predators. Ensure there are no obvious routes for predators to access the house.
Care:
- Cleaning: Clean the house annually, preferably in early spring or late autumn, before hedgehogs start using it. Remove old bedding and replace it with fresh, dry material.
- Maintenance: Inspect the house regularly for any damage. Make necessary repairs to ensure it remains weatherproof and predator-proof.
