FAQs

What type of willow is used in this bat?

This bat is made from Kashmir willow, known for its solid feel and balanced weight distribution.

Do I need to 'knock-in' this bat?

Yes, while Kashmir willow requires less intensive knocking-in than English willow, some initial preparation is recommended. Lightly tapping the bat with a mallet on the edges and face for 15-20 minutes is sufficient.

How often should I oil the bat?

Lightly oiling the blade once or twice a year is generally recommended to protect the willow. Ensure you use a quality cricket bat oil and wipe off any excess.

Is this bat suitable for professional players?

The Slazenger Kashmir Cricket Bat is designed for consistent performance and is ideal for club cricketers, aspiring players, and recreational use. Professional players often opt for bats made from premium English willow for maximum power.

How should I store my cricket bat?

Store the bat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Using a bat cover or sleeve is advisable.

What is the main benefit of the full-sized profile?

The full-sized profile offers an extended reach and a larger sweet spot, making it more forgiving on off-center hits and providing a good balance of power and control.

Troubleshooting

Reduced performance or 'feel' of the bat

Ensure the bat has been adequately knocked-in and consider a light oiling. Check for any surface damage that may affect performance.

Grip feels loose or uncomfortable

The grip may need to be replaced. Professional re-gripping services are available, or it can be done by the user with appropriate materials.

Minor surface cracks or indentations on the face

Small indentations are normal with use. For minor superficial cracks, a light application of bat anti-scuff cover can help prevent further damage. Significant damage may require professional assessment.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Setup:

This bat is ready for use upon arrival. Ensure the grip is secure and comfortable before your first session.

Compatibility:

Designed for use with standard cricket balls. Not intended for use with hard, non-cricket balls, as this may cause damage.

Care:

  • Knocking-in: While Kashmir willow requires less intensive knocking-in than English willow, some initial preparation is recommended for optimal performance and longevity. Lightly tap the bat with a mallet on the edges and face for 15-20 minutes.
  • Oiling: Lightly oiling the blade with a quality cricket bat oil (linseed oil is common) can help protect the willow. Apply a thin layer, allow it to soak in for a few hours, and then wipe off any excess. Repeat this process once or twice a year.
  • Storage: Store the bat in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Using a bat cover or sleeve is recommended to protect it from dust and minor impacts.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the bat clean with a slightly damp cloth after use to remove dirt and moisture. Avoid excessive water, which can damage the willow.
