The Rab Firewall Parka is designed for outdoor enthusiasts who require maximum protection during persistent, wet weather mountain adventures. This waterproof, 3-layer parka provides an exceptional balance of breathability and coverage, making it ideal for hiking and scrambling, though its mid-thigh length may feel slightly more restrictive than a standard jacket during high-intensity climbing moves.

Yes, its durable 3-layer construction and long cut provide excellent protection in cold, wet mountain environments.
This indicates a high level of waterproofing, meaning the fabric can withstand significant water pressure without leaking.
It is recommended to use a technical gear cleaner instead of standard detergent, as regular soaps can leave residues that clog the membrane pores.
The parka features an internal or external adjustment system, usually located near the waist area, which can be cinched for a customized fit.
The hood is designed to be adjustable to seal out driving rain, and its size allows for a precise fit over headwear.
The DWR finish has likely worn off. Wash the jacket and tumble dry low or re-apply a technical DWR spray to restore water repellency.
Ensure the front zip is adjusted or use the two-way opening feature to increase ventilation; also check that your base layers are moisture-wicking synthetic or wool.
To ensure the longevity of your parka, always zip up all zippers and close the hood adjustments before placing it in the wash. Wash the garment in cold water using a mild, technical-specific cleaner designed for waterproof shells to maintain the integrity of the Pertex Shield membrane. Avoid using fabric softeners, as these can compromise the waterproof capabilities. To reactivate the DWR finish, tumble dry the jacket on a low setting or iron it on a cool setting with a towel in between, which helps the factory finish recover its effectiveness. Store the jacket hanging in a cool, dry place to prevent moisture buildup.
