Setup, Compatibility & Care
When preparing to cut, ensure your fabric is laid perfectly flat to account for its substantial body. Use sharp, high-quality pins and consider using pattern weights to prevent the fabric from sliding during the marking phase. For sewing, a universal or microtex needle (typically 70/10 or 80/12) is recommended to ensure clean stitches without damaging the weave. Always perform a test on a scrap piece to calibrate your tension, as satin can be prone to puckering if the thread tension is too high. For care, it is best to dry clean to maintain the crispness of the finish and the integrity of the structure. If washing is necessary, use a gentle cycle with a mild detergent and hang to dry; avoid aggressive wringing to protect the fabric's smooth surface and luster.
