Setup, Compatibility & Care
Receiving Your Plants:
Your Chamomile 'Treneague' plants will arrive in 9cm pots, ready for planting. If you cannot plant them immediately, keep them in a sheltered location and water regularly to maintain moist soil.
Planting Instructions:
- Prepare the Area: Thoroughly weed the intended planting area. For heavier soils, incorporate a soil improver.
- Dig the Hole: Dig a hole roughly twice as deep and three times as wide as the plant's root ball.
- Position the Plant: Place the plant in the hole so its top is level with the surrounding soil.
- Backfill and Water: Fill the hole with soil, firm it gently around the base, and water thoroughly.
- Spacing for Lawns: When creating a chamomile lawn, space plants approximately 10cm apart.
- Container Planting: Use a good quality multi-purpose compost for pots.
Establishment Period:
After planting, water regularly. Avoid walking on the newly planted area for at least 12 weeks to allow the plants to establish and spread.
Ongoing Care:
- Watering: Provide regular watering, particularly during dry spells and after planting.
- Trimming: Trim with lawn mower or shears in late summer if necessary to maintain neatness.
- Foot Traffic: Avoid regular or heavy foot traffic as the plants are not designed for it.
Compatibility:
- Sunlight: Prefers sunny locations.
- Soil: Adaptable to various soil types, but benefits from improved drainage in heavy soils.
- Traffic: Not suitable for areas with frequent or heavy foot traffic.
