Product Information

Full details

The Green Loft Campervan Insulation Roll is an essential upgrade for DIY van converters and motorhome owners seeking reliable all-season thermal control and noise reduction. It provides a lightweight, durable barrier that actively combats condensation, ensuring a more comfortable interior climate; however, users must account for the initial expansion process upon unboxing as the material is shipped in a compressed state.

FAQs

Is the expansion process difficult?

No, it simply requires pulling the material apart by hand after removing it from the packaging to allow air to return to the foam.

Does compression during shipping hurt the performance?

No, the compression does not impact the quality or the thermal efficiency of the product once it has been properly expanded.

Can I stretch the insulation further?

Yes, if your specific application requires it, the material can be stretched to fit specific dimensions.

Will this help with engine or road noise?

Yes, the dense foam structure acts as an excellent acoustic dampener, reducing the volume of road noise experienced inside the cabin.

Do I need to glue the insulation in place?

While often held in place by friction fit, using a high-temperature spray adhesive is recommended for vertical or overhead applications to prevent sagging over time.

Troubleshooting

Insulation appears thin after opening.

The product is compressed for shipping. Manually fluff and stretch the material by hand to encourage it to expand to the full 50mm thickness.

Material is not filling the cavity tightly.

Ensure you have measured your panel gaps accurately and cut the insulation slightly wider than the cavity to ensure a friction fit.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Lightweight and easy to maneuver in cramped interiors
Dual-action benefits for both temperature and noise
Helps protect the vehicle frame by reducing condensation
Flexible material allows for custom fitting around van ribs and curves

Cons

Requires manual fluffing to reach full thickness after unboxing
Must be cut and secured carefully to ensure gap-free coverage
Performance depends on correct installation depth and technique

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To install, first measure the cavity spaces within your van walls or ceiling. Unroll the insulation and pull the material apart by hand to allow it to expand to its full 50mm thickness. Cut the material to size using heavy-duty shears or a utility knife, ensuring a snug fit against all structural ribs. The product is compatible with most standard van conversion materials, including plywood, lightweight paneling, and metal furring strips. For care, ensure the area is clean and dry before installation to prevent trapping existing moisture. Periodically inspect your interior panels if you notice cold spots or moisture; if correctly installed, this insulation should remain effective for the lifespan of the vehicle conversion.
