Special Hobby 72472 Messerschmitt Bf-109E Slovak & Romanian Aces 1:72 Model Kit. In 1939, the Messerschmitt Bf 109E was arguably the very best fighter aeroplane in the world. Many air forces in Europe showed interest in acquiring the type for their inventory. Rumania was among the first foreign countries to obtain the aircraft, mainly due to the oil they were mining in Ploesti. On the other hand, the Slovak State was one of the last countries to get the aircraft, despite being a close ally to Germany at the time. Both Slovakia and Rumania deployed their Emils in military actions on the Eastern Front alongside the German Luftwaffe.
