The PolyX PVC Capped Timber Supported Rafter Bar is an ideal solution for DIY enthusiasts and professional builders looking to secure polycarbonate roofing panels. This system provides a robust, weather-resistant mounting solution that simplifies the installation of glazing on timber or metal rafters. While it offers excellent durability and a clean finish, users should note that it requires an existing structural rafter framework to provide necessary support for the sheets.

This rafter bar is compatible with polycarbonate sheets ranging from 10mm up to 25mm thick.
Yes, the aluminium base is suitable for mounting to both timber and metal rafters.
This unit measures exactly 2 metres in length.
The product includes the aluminium base and PVC cap; please use appropriate screws based on the material of your underlying rafters.
It is generally not recommended to paint the PVC cap, as the finish is designed for durability and might react poorly to certain types of paints.
Ensure the aluminium base is mounted flush to the rafter and verify that there is no debris trapped in the locking channels.
Check that the PVC cap is fully engaged along the entire length of the bar and ensure your polycarbonate sheet is correctly seated within the base channels.
To install, ensure your rafters are clean, level, and properly spaced according to the width of your polycarbonate sheets. Mount the aluminium base to the rafter, then position your sheet, allowing for a small expansion gap. Align the PVC cap and apply firm pressure to snap it onto the base, working from one end to the other. For ongoing care, clean the PVC surfaces occasionally with mild soap and water to remove debris. Avoid using abrasive chemicals that could damage the UV-protective layer on the PVC or the polycarbonate sheets themselves.
