Product Information

Full details

This DeWalt 165mm, 24-tooth circular saw blade is engineered for efficient and precise cutting of natural timbers and wood-based sheet materials like plywood, MDF, and chipboard. Optimized for both cordless and corded circular saws, its thin kerf reduces required push force and extends battery runtime, offering straighter cuts with less binding. While highly durable and designed for long-lasting sharpness, it is specifically not recommended for use on timber that may contain nails.

FAQs

What materials can this DeWalt blade cut?

This blade is designed for ripping and cross-cutting natural timbers, as well as composite wood-based sheet materials like plywood, MDF, and chipboard.

Is this blade suitable for cordless circular saws?

Yes, it is specifically designed and optimized to get the most out of cordless circular saws, extending battery runtime due to its thin kerf. It also works great with corded saws.

What does 'thin kerf' mean for me?

A thin kerf (1.65mm) means the blade removes less material, requiring less power from your saw. This results in less push force needed, straighter cuts, and longer battery life for cordless tools.

Can I use this blade to cut wood with nails?

No, it is explicitly not recommended for cutting timbers that may contain nails, as this can severely damage the carbide teeth and dull the blade quickly.

What are the dimensions of this blade?

It has a 165mm diameter and a 20mm bore size.

What is the purpose of the 'Tough Coat'?

The Tough Coat is an anti-stick coating that reduces friction and prevents resin buildup on the blade, leading to smoother cuts and extended blade life.

Is 'Extreme' branding different from 'Elite'?

No, DeWalt is rebranding its 'Extreme' series as 'Elite'. There is no change in the blade's specifications, only the design and branding.

Troubleshooting

Blade binds or cuts slowly

Ensure the material is properly supported and clamped. Check that the blade is clean and free of resin buildup. Verify the saw's depth is set correctly and avoid excessive force.

Excessive vibration or wobble during cutting

Disconnect power and check if the blade is securely mounted and the arbor nut is tight. Inspect the blade for any damage, bends, or missing teeth.

Cuts are not straight or accurate

Ensure the saw's base plate is parallel to the blade. Check for proper material guidance (e.g., using a fence). Confirm the blade is installed with the teeth in the correct cutting direction.

Blade seems to dull quickly

Verify that you are not cutting materials with hidden nails or other metal objects. Ensure you are using the correct blade for the material type and avoid overheating by not forcing the cut.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Reduced push force required by user
Straighter cuts with reduced binding
Teeth stay sharper longer with reduced breakage
Optimized for maximum battery runtime in cordless circular saws
Reduced vibration and noise during operation
Anti-stick coating prevents friction and residue buildup

Cons

Not recommended for cutting timbers that may contain nails
Specifically designed for wood and wood-based materials, not suitable for other materials (e.g., metal, plastic)

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup

Safety First: Always disconnect your circular saw from the power source (or remove the battery) before attempting to change the blade.
Blade Direction: Ensure the blade is mounted with the teeth pointing in the correct direction for cutting (usually indicated by an arrow on the blade and the saw).
Secure Mounting: Use the appropriate wrench to securely tighten the arbor nut, ensuring the blade is firmly seated on the saw's arbor. Do not overtighten.
Test Spin: Once installed, briefly run the saw to ensure the blade spins freely without wobble or excessive vibration.

Compatibility

Blade Diameter: 165mm
Bore Diameter: 20mm
Teeth: 24 TCT (Tungsten Carbide Tipped)
Saw Type: Suitable for both corded and cordless circular saws.

Care and Maintenance

Regular Cleaning: After use, clean resin and sawdust buildup from the blade using a dedicated blade cleaner or a mild solvent. This prevents friction and maintains cutting efficiency.
Inspection: Periodically inspect the blade for bent teeth, cracks, or excessive wear. A damaged blade can be dangerous and affect cut quality.
Storage: Store the blade in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage to the teeth when not in use. Keep it in a dry environment to prevent rust.
Avoid Nails: As specified, do not use this blade on timbers containing nails. This will rapidly dull or damage the carbide teeth.
