Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting:
- Choose a planting site with full sun exposure.
- Ensure the soil is moist but well-drained.
- Dig a hole twice as wide as the root ball.
- Place the tree in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the ground.
- Backfill the hole with soil, gently firming it around the roots.
- Water thoroughly after planting.
Compatibility:
The Sorbus hupehensis is compatible with a variety of garden designs. Consider planting it near other trees and shrubs to create a layered effect. For a striking contrast, plant it alongside Sorbus aucuparia 'Cardinal Royal' with its bright red berries.
Care:
- Watering: Water regularly during the first growing season.
- Soil: Slightly acidic and less alkaline soil is ideal for the best autumn color.
- Pruning: Provide occasional pruning to maintain its shape and health.
