This food is formulated for adult working dogs. Puppies and senior dogs have different nutritional requirements, so it is recommended to consult your veterinarian for suitable alternatives or advice before feeding this product to them.
Refer to the feeding guidelines on the product packaging. These are typically based on your dog's weight and activity level. Remember that these are starting points, and you may need to adjust based on your dog's individual metabolism, body condition, and environmental factors.
This food is considered hypoallergenic because it avoids common food allergens such as wheat, maize, barley, soya, milk products, and uses a single, novel protein source (salmon). This formulation significantly reduces the likelihood of triggering allergic reactions in sensitive dogs.
Yes, for many dogs whose itchy skin is caused by dietary sensitivities, this hypoallergenic formula can be very beneficial. Additionally, the rich content of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids actively promotes healthy skin and a nourished coat, which can help alleviate dryness and irritation.
Yes, Skinner's Field And Trial Salmon & Rice is a complete dry food, meaning it provides all the essential nutrients, vitamins, and minerals your adult working dog needs for a balanced diet without additional supplements (unless recommended by a vet).
The salmon used in this recipe is sourced from sustainable Scottish fisheries, ensuring both quality and responsible sourcing practices.
Ensure you are transitioning gradually over 7-10 days. If the issue persists, try moistening the food slightly with warm water or a small amount of dog-safe broth. Consult your vet if refusal to eat continues.
Verify the gradual transition period was followed. Ensure you are feeding the correct portion size for your dog's activity level to avoid overfeeding. If symptoms persist, consult your veterinarian to rule out underlying health issues.
While hypoallergenic, other environmental or dietary factors could be contributing. Ensure your dog isn't getting other foods or treats that contain allergens. Consult your veterinarian for a comprehensive assessment of allergy triggers.
Allow adequate time (several weeks) for the nutritional benefits to become visible. Ensure proper grooming and check for external parasites. If no improvement, consult your vet as underlying health conditions can affect coat quality.
When introducing Skinner's Field And Trial Salmon & Rice, a gradual transition over 7-10 days is recommended to avoid any digestive upset. Start by mixing a small amount of the new food with your dog's current food, slowly increasing the proportion of Skinner's over the week while decreasing the old food. Ensure fresh water is always available.
This dog food is specifically formulated for adult working dogs (from around 12-18 months of age, depending on breed). It is particularly suitable for dogs with food sensitivities, allergies, or those requiring a diet free from common allergens like wheat, maize, barley, soya, and milk products. While suitable for 'light to moderate' work, portion sizes should be adjusted based on your dog's actual activity level, age, and individual metabolic rate.
