Setup, Compatibility & Care
Before starting the repair, ensure you have the correct service manual for your specific chainsaw model.
- Verify Compatibility: Before installing, measure your existing gudgeon pin to confirm it is the 10mm version and measure your cylinder bore to confirm it is 38mm.
- Installation: Remove the top end of the chainsaw, clean the crankcase thoroughly, and ensure no debris falls into the engine during the swap. Use appropriate ring compressors to slide the piston into the cylinder.
- Break-in Period: After installation, use a slightly richer oil-to-fuel mix for the first few tanks of fuel to allow the new rings to seat properly against the cylinder wall.
- Care: Keep the air filter clean to prevent dust and grit from entering the intake, which is the primary cause of premature piston wear.
