FAQs
How does the magnetic stud finder work?
The magnetic stud finder uses powerful magnets to locate screws in the studwork, accurately indicating the location of the studs.
What type of pencil should I use with this stud finder?
The stud finder is designed to be used with the TRACER 2.8mm deep hole pencil.
Can I use this stud finder on any wall type?
The stud finder works best on drywall and similar wall materials where screws are used to secure the studs. It may not work on walls without screws or with non-ferrous screws.
How do I maintain the stud finder?
Wipe the unit clean with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and store in a dry place.
What if the spirit level is not working correctly?
Check the level's alignment. If it's consistently inaccurate, the unit may need to be replaced.
Can I use this stud finder on metal studs?
Yes, but the magnets will attach to the metal studs themselves, so you may need to use an alternative marking method.
Is the magnetic stud finder affected by electrical wiring?
No, the magnetic stud finder is not affected by electrical wiring, unlike electronic stud finders.
Troubleshooting
Finder is not attracting to the wall.
Ensure the wall surface is clean and free of debris. Check for the presence of screws within the studwork.
Spirit level is not accurate.
Check if the spirit level is properly aligned. Recalibrate the level or replace the unit if necessary.
Magnets are weak or not holding.
Inspect for any damage to the magnets. Clean the magnets and the wall surface to ensure proper contact.
