The AVESON Professional Punch Down Tool is an essential instrument for IT technicians, telecommunication professionals, and DIY enthusiasts who regularly install or maintain network and telephone cabling. Its primary benefit is the ability to securely terminate wires while simultaneously trimming excess length, ensuring a clean, reliable connection in one motion. While it is highly versatile for various cable types, users should be careful to align wires correctly before punching to avoid damaging the pins or insulation on delicate jacks.

Yes, it is designed specifically for solid core wires commonly found in structured cabling and telephone installations.
The small hook is designed to help you extract wires from punch-down terminals when you need to re-terminate or remove a connection.
Ensure that the cutting side of the blade is facing the correct direction toward the excess wire length.
Verify that the wire is fully seated into the IDC slot; if loose, check if the blade is worn and requires replacement.
Clean any accumulated debris from the hinge area and apply a small drop of machine oil to the pivot point.
To ensure the longevity of your AVESON punch down tool, maintain the sharpness of the cutting blades by avoiding thick or non-compliant wire gauges. The tool is pre-configured to work straight out of the package—simply unfold the desired blade, ensure the cutting edge is oriented toward the excess wire side, and apply consistent vertical pressure. For care, keep the tool free of wire clippings and dust to prevent blade jamming. Occasionally check the pivot points for the fold-out blades to ensure they remain secure but movable. Store in a dry environment to prevent corrosion of the metal components.
