FAQs

What age range is this cotbed suitable for?

The cotbed is designed to be used from birth as a cot and can be converted into a toddler bed for use up to approximately four years of age.

Does the mattress fit any standard cotbed?

The mattress is specifically sized for the Hampden Cotbed frame; ensure you check specific dimensions if using with other furniture.

How often should I wash the mattress cover?

You should wash the cover whenever it becomes soiled or at regular intervals to ensure the hypoallergenic properties remain effective.

Are safety standards met for this bundle?

Yes, both the cotbed and the mattress meet the latest rigorous British and European safety standards.

Is the mattress flippable?

It is recommended to follow the orientation guidelines on the mattress tag to maximize the longevity of the spring system.

What tools are needed for assembly?

Basic assembly tools are typically included with the hardware kit; ensure you do not use power drills as they may strip the pre-drilled holes.

Troubleshooting

The cotbed frame feels slightly unstable.

Check all connection points and ensure every bolt is fully tightened to the frame.

Mattress cover feels difficult to remove.

Ensure the mattress is laid flat on a firm surface, then unzip the cover carefully starting from the corner zip puller.

The cot base height is difficult to adjust.

Ensure the mattress is completely removed and have a second person hold the base steady while adjusting the support pins.

Pros and Cons

Requires manual assembly
Larger footprint than standard cribs

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Assembly of the Hampden Cotbed should be completed in the room where it will stay to avoid moving the large frame through tight doorways. Ensure all bolts are tightened securely during setup and periodically checked thereafter. For the mattress, the zip-off cover should be removed and washed according to the label instructions to maintain the effectiveness of the Purotex treatment. It is recommended to use a waterproof mattress protector to extend the life of the unit. The frame can be kept clean by wiping it down with a soft, damp cloth and avoiding harsh chemical cleaners that may damage the finish.
