The Mikrotik CCR2004-16G-2S+ is a powerful wired router designed for demanding network operations. It features an Annapurna Labs Alpine v2 CPU with 4x 64-bit ARMv8-A Cortex-A57 cores running at 1.7GHz, offering superior single-core performance crucial for per-connection processing like queues. This router boasts excellent performance per watt, making it both environmentally friendly and cost-effective. It is equipped with 18 wired ports, including 16 Gigabit Ethernet ports and two 10G SFP+ cages, along with a RJ-45 console port on the front panel. The device operates in a classic 1U rackmount case and includes built-in dual redundant power supplies and active cooling for reliable operation. Each group of 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports is connected to a separate Marvell Amethyst family switch-chip, with each chip having a 10 Gbps full-duplex line to the CPU. Similarly, each SFP+ cage has a dedicated 10 Gbps full-duplex line. The boards are configured with 4GB of DDR4 RAM and 128MB of NAND storage, ensuring no bottlenecks as long as the CPU can handle the processing. This router can achieve wire-speed performance on all ports and competes with or even surpasses higher-end models in CPU-heavy configurations. It is positioned as one of the most affordable options on the market. A common use case involves utilizing the Gigabit Ethernet ports for the internal network and the SFP+ ports for downlink and uplink, making it an ideal all-in-one solution for small to medium-sized businesses. Upgrade your office network efficiently with the CCR2004.
