Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: These planters come fully assembled and require no setup beyond choosing their desired location. Ensure the chosen spot is level and can support the weight of the planter, soil, and plants.
Compatibility: The open design and generous volume are compatible with a wide range of plants, from flowers and shrubs to herbs and vegetables. For optimal plant health and planter longevity, consider using a quality potting mix. As mentioned, lining the planter with a heavy-duty refuse bag (poke drainage holes in the bottom) or a weed membrane is recommended before adding soil. This helps retain moisture and prevents soil erosion.
Care: To maintain the appearance and prolong the life of the planters, it is advisable to clean them periodically with a damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners. The water-repellent preservative offers initial protection, but for best results, consider reapplying a suitable wood treatment or stain annually, especially after the first year, to ensure continued protection against the elements. Store empty planters in a dry, sheltered location during winter months if possible.
