Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Ensure the existing pipework is clean and free of debris.
- Apply plumber's tape or jointing compound to threaded connections if recommended by specific fitting instructions.
- Connect the inlet of the S trap to the waste outlet of the basin or sink.
- Connect the outlet of the S trap to the main drain pipe, ensuring a secure fit.
- Hand-tighten connections first, then use appropriate tools for a final snug fit, avoiding overtightening.
- Run water through the trap to test for leaks.
Compatibility:
This trap is designed as a universal S trap, meaning it should be compatible with standard UK plumbing sizes for sink and basin waste outlets and drain connections. Always check your existing pipe dimensions to confirm compatibility, though its design aims to cover most common configurations.
Care:
- Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could scratch the surface.
- Periodically check connections for tightness to prevent leaks.
- If blockages occur, follow standard plumbing procedures for clearing drains. The S trap can typically be disassembled for cleaning if necessary.
