The Faithfull Half-Round Second Cut File is designed for professional tradespeople and serious DIY enthusiasts who require a versatile material removal tool for flat, concave, and convex surfaces. Its primary benefit lies in the dual-sided design, which allows for efficient shaping and smoothing across varying geometries, though users should note that the 'second cut' tooth pattern is intended for moderate stock removal rather than fine finishing.

Second cut refers to the coarseness of the teeth; it is a medium-grade file that removes more material than a smooth file but leaves a rougher finish than a finishing file.
While it is designed for metal, it can be used on wood, though wood fibers will clog the teeth more quickly than metal filings.
Use a file card or a stiff wire brush to clear out the channels between the teeth after every use.
Yes, the handle is designed to be durable but can be replaced if damaged by sliding it off the tang.
It can be used on stainless steel, but be aware that stainless steel is harder and will dull the file teeth faster than mild steel.
The teeth are likely clogged with debris; clean the file thoroughly using a file card.
Ensure you are using the correct side for the contour and reduce downward pressure during the stroke.
Check the tang connection and tap the handle firmly onto the bench to ensure it is fully seated.
This file requires no complex setup; it is ready to use immediately. For compatibility, it is best suited for mild steels, aluminum, and brass. To maintain the tool, always use a file card (a specialized wire brush) to clear metal filings from the teeth after use, as trapped debris causes 'pinning' and results in surface scratching. Store the file in a dry environment and avoid contact with other hardened steel tools to prevent the teeth from chipping.
