The Carbeth Plants Salvia Turkestanica is an excellent choice for gardeners looking for a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant perennial to enhance borders, gravel gardens, or dry planting schemes. It provides a striking aesthetic with its pale lilac-pink blooms and attracts a variety of pollinators to your garden; however, it requires well-drained soil and will not thrive in waterlogged conditions.

It forms a low mound of semi-evergreen foliage with tall flower spikes that typically reach mid-height, fitting well within most garden borders.
Salvia Turkestanica is a hardy perennial, though it requires protection from excessive winter wetness rather than cold temperatures.
Spring or early autumn are ideal times for planting to allow the roots to establish before extreme summer heat or winter cold.
It generally does not require much fertilizer. A light mulch of organic matter in spring is sufficient.
Pruning is minimal; simply remove dead flower stems and damaged foliage after the flowering season.
This is likely due to waterlogged soil. Improve drainage or relocate to a sunnier, drier position.
Ensure the plant is receiving full sunlight; insufficient light will prevent the plant from producing its signature spikes.
When planting, ensure you select a site that receives full sun. The most critical factor for success is soil drainage; if you have heavy clay soil, mix in grit or horticultural sand to improve drainage before planting. Dig a hole slightly larger than the 1L pot, place the plant at the same depth it was in the container, and firm the soil around the base. Water thoroughly during the first growing season, especially during hot spells. Once established, it requires minimal intervention. In late summer or autumn, you can tidy up the plant by removing spent flower spikes and any dead foliage to encourage healthy new growth in the following season.
