Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Prepare the ground by clearing any existing weeds and debris.
- Unroll the weed membrane. If it is creased from folding, allow it to rest in the sun for a short period to help it flatten.
- Cut the membrane to the desired size and shape using sharp scissors or a utility knife.
- Lay the membrane over the prepared area, ensuring a continuous coverage. Overlap edges by at least 10-15 cm if joining pieces.
- Secure the membrane using weed control membrane pegs, especially around the edges and in windy locations.
- Cover the membrane with your chosen topping, such as mulch, gravel, or decorative stones.
Compatibility:
This weed membrane is compatible with a wide range of landscaping materials including mulch, bark chips, gravel, stone chippings, sand, soil, and decking. It can be used under artificial grass lawns, patios, and within raised garden beds.
Care:
The weed membrane requires minimal care. Its primary function is passive weed suppression. To maintain its effectiveness, ensure the covering material (mulch, gravel, etc.) is adequately thick to protect the membrane from direct UV exposure and physical damage. Periodically check that the edges remain secured and that there are no gaps where weeds might emerge. Cleaning is generally not required, but if it becomes heavily soiled, it can be gently brushed or rinsed. The product is designed for long-term use but its UV resistance will degrade over many years of direct sun exposure.
