Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup
The Irwin Quick-Grip Mini Bar Clamps come ready to use out of the box. No assembly is required.
- Open the Jaws: Squeeze the quick-release trigger to open the clamp jaws.
- Position on Workpiece: Place the fixed jaw against one side of your workpiece and move the sliding jaw to the other side.
- Apply Pressure: Release the trigger and squeeze the handle repeatedly to apply clamping pressure. The quick-release trigger allows for fine adjustments.
- Release: To release, simply squeeze the quick-release trigger again.
Compatibility
These clamps are designed for light-duty applications, including:
- Woodworking projects
- DIY tasks
- Modeling and craft work
- Small repairs and assemblies
They are compatible with a variety of materials such as wood, plastic, and composite boards, especially where surface protection is critical.
Care
- Cleaning: After use, wipe down the clamps with a dry or slightly damp cloth to remove sawdust, glue, or other debris. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the resin body or pads.
- Pad Maintenance: Ensure the non-marring full face pads are clean and free of embedded particles that could scratch your workpiece. The "stay-on" design helps prevent loss.
- Storage: Store the clamps in a clean, dry place. Keeping them organized can prevent damage and extend their lifespan.
- Lubrication (Optional): Periodically, a small amount of dry lubricant or silicone spray can be applied to the moving parts of the bar and trigger mechanism to maintain smooth operation, though often not necessary for these mini clamps.
