Full details

The Sea to Summit Evac Lightweight Compression Dry Bag is designed for outdoor enthusiasts such as bikepackers, sea kayakers, and backpackers who need a reliable, space-saving solution for moisture-sensitive gear. Its primary benefit is the innovative air-permeable base that allows you to compress bulky items easily without a traditional purge valve, though users should note that while it is highly water-resistant, it is not intended for full, prolonged underwater submersion.

FAQs

Is this bag fully waterproof?

It is highly water-resistant and suitable for keeping gear dry in rain or splashes, but it is not intended for prolonged underwater submersion.

Do I need to purge air manually?

No, the EVAC base allows air to exit automatically as you compress the bag.

What is the purpose of the white interior?

The white interior coating reflects light, making it easier to see and locate gear stored at the bottom of the bag.

Can the fabric be repaired if punctured?

Small tears can often be repaired with adhesive gear repair patches, though care should be taken not to cover the EVAC base.

Is the fabric bluesign approved?

Yes, the main 70D nylon body fabric is bluesign approved, meeting high environmental and safety standards.

Troubleshooting

Air is not escaping when compressing

Ensure the EVAC base is not blocked by contents or submerged in water while trying to compress.

Water leakage at the roll-top

Verify that you have performed at least three full rolls of the top and that no debris is stuck in the closure path.

Buckle has snapped

Use a compatible Sea to Summit Field Repair Buckle to replace it without needing to sew.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Integrated air-release base eliminates the need for bulky purge valves
Lightweight yet durable recycled 70D nylon fabric
Easy-to-see white interior coating
Repairable hardware with field-ready buckles
Eco-friendly C0 non-PFC DWR finish

Cons

Not suitable for full submersion like a rigid dry case
Can be tricky to seal perfectly if overfilled
Requires careful cleaning to maintain the air-permeable membrane

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To ensure a watertight seal, align the top edges of the bag carefully, fold them over at least three times, and secure the buckle. Do not overfill the bag, as this prevents a proper seal and puts excess strain on the nylon fabric.

For care, wipe the bag down with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the waterproof coating or clog the air-permeable EVAC base. Always ensure the bag is completely dry before storing it for long periods to prevent mildew growth. Avoid contact with sharp objects that could puncture the 70D nylon shell.
