FAQs
Is this ball suitable for competitive matches?
While high quality, it is designed specifically for training and school use rather than professional competitive matches.
Can I use this ball on concrete?
It is designed for grass and turf; usage on abrasive surfaces like concrete will significantly reduce the lifespan of the outer cover.
What size is the Puma Orbita 5?
The Orbita 5 is typically available in standard size 5 for adult and youth training, but always confirm the size printed on your specific unit.
How do I inflate the ball correctly?
Use a standard football pump and a ball needle. Lubricate the needle with a little water or oil before inserting it into the valve to protect the seal.
What is the benefit of the EVA foam backing?
The EVA foam provides a softer feel upon contact, which reduces the impact force for players and improves control during traps and passes.
Troubleshooting
The ball is losing air pressure rapidly.
Check the valve for debris or use a drop of silicone oil on the needle to ensure a proper, airtight seal when inflating.
The ball feels too hard during play.
Ensure you are not over-inflating the ball; use a pressure gauge to match the manufacturer's recommended bar or PSI rating.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Durable construction suitable for high-frequency use
- Soft touch aids in skill development for younger players
- Excellent shape retention after repeated impact
- High-visibility design for training in various lighting conditions
Cons
- Optimized for training rather than match-grade performance
- Surface may scuff faster on abrasive concrete or asphalt
- Not intended for professional-level tournament play
Setup, Compatibility & Care
To ensure the longevity of your Puma Orbita 5 Football, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Inflation: Always inflate to the recommended pressure (typically printed near the valve) using a lubricated needle to prevent valve damage.
- Surface Usage: While durable, it is best suited for natural grass or approved artificial turf; avoid rough concrete to prevent premature outer-surface wear.
- Cleaning: Wipe the ball down with a damp cloth after use in wet or muddy conditions to remove debris.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and sharp objects to maintain the integrity of the synthetic materials.
