FAQs
Can I put this mitt in the washing machine?
It is recommended to hand wash the mitt to prevent the microfibre from matting or losing its texture, though some users choose a cold, gentle machine cycle without fabric softeners.
Does it scratch the paint?
No, the noodle construction is specifically designed to lift debris away from the paint surface, provided you rinse the mitt frequently to remove trapped grit.
Is the bug shifter safe for all paint types?
Yes, it is designed for use on standard vehicle paintwork, but always use light pressure when dealing with delicate finishes.
Can I use this for waxing?
While it is primarily a wash and buffing mitt, it can be used for applying thin layers of liquid wax, though a dedicated foam applicator is often preferred for precision.
How long will the mitt last?
With proper rinsing, air drying, and storage away from abrasive surfaces, the mitt can last for dozens of full-vehicle washes.
Troubleshooting
The mitt feels heavy or clogged during use
You are likely picking up too much dirt; rinse the mitt more frequently in a separate 'grit guard' bucket to release debris.
The bug shifter is not removing stubborn spots
Pre-soak the affected area with warm, soapy water for a few minutes to soften the deposits before using the bug shifter panel.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Minimizes the risk of swirl marks and scratches
- Highly absorbent material retains plenty of soapy water
- Effective built-in bug shifter for tough contaminants
- Versatile for both cleaning and buffing tasks
Cons
- Requires thorough rinsing to prevent grit buildup
- Hand wash only to maintain material longevity
- Can become heavy when fully saturated with water
Setup, Compatibility & Care
This wash mitt is ready to use immediately out of the package. It is compatible with all standard automotive shampoos and detailing sprays. To ensure longevity and maintain the integrity of the microfibre:
- Always rinse the mitt thoroughly in a clean bucket of water after completing each section of the vehicle to release trapped dirt.
- After washing, rinse the mitt under clean running water until all soap is removed.
- Gently squeeze out excess water—do not wring it out aggressively as this can damage the fibres.
- Allow the mitt to air dry completely in a shaded area. Avoid direct sunlight or high-heat tumble drying, which can melt the synthetic fibres.
