Setup, Compatibility & Care
Proper installation is vital for the longevity of the DILFR6A11. Always use a spark plug socket with a rubber insert to protect the delicate iridium tip during installation. Before threading by hand, ensure the cylinder head threads are clean and free of debris. Use a torque wrench to tighten the plug to the vehicle manufacturer's specified setting; over-tightening can crack the ceramic insulator or damage the cylinder head. While these plugs come pre-gapped, it is recommended to verify the gap with a wire-style feeler gauge rather than a coin-style tool, which can damage the fragile electrode. If removing or installing in a performance vehicle, apply a very light coat of anti-seize only if required by the vehicle manufacturer, though the plug's trivalent plating is generally designed to resist seizing on its own.
