Product Information

Full details

This guide is for DIY enthusiasts and homeowners looking for a durable, versatile paint for both indoor and outdoor projects. Its key benefit is its hardwearing, weatherproof finish suitable for numerous surfaces, offering a sophisticated blue-grey alternative to darker shades. A potential caveat is that coverage estimates assume two coats for optimal results, meaning a single coat may not achieve the full durability.

FAQs

What surfaces can Frenchic Al Fresco 'Jitterbug' be used on?

It's suitable for a vast array of surfaces including furniture, woodwork, laminate, powder-coated radiators, metal, uPVC, ceramic wall tiles (excluding shower areas), kitchen cupboards, front doors, and interior wood and concrete floors.

Do I need to prime before using this paint?

Frenchic Al Fresco is self-priming, meaning in most cases, a separate primer is not required. However, for very slick or problematic surfaces, a primer might still be beneficial for optimal adhesion.

How many coats of paint are recommended?

Two coats are recommended for a long-lasting and durable finish. This also ensures the truest colour representation.

Is this paint suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, it is weatherproof and hardwearing, making it ideal for outdoor furniture, front doors, and other exterior projects.

How do I clean the painted surface?

Clean with a damp cloth. For tougher marks, use mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners.

What is the coverage rate?

A 750ml tin covers up to 12.5m² per coat, so approximately 6m² for two coats. A 250ml tin covers approximately 2m² for two coats.

Is this paint safe for children's toys?

Yes, it is EN71-3 certified, making it safe for use on children's toys and furniture.

What kind of finish does 'Jitterbug' have?

It provides a smooth, matte finish.

Troubleshooting

Paint is too thick or difficult to apply.

Stir the paint thoroughly. If still very thick, a very small amount of water (a teaspoon per litre) can be added, but avoid over-thinning.

Uneven finish or brush marks visible.

Ensure paint is applied in thin, even coats. Use a high-quality brush and maintain consistent application direction. Allow adequate drying time between coats.

Paint is not adhering well to the surface.

Check that the surface was clean, dry, and free from contaminants before painting. For very slick surfaces, consider light sanding or using a suitable primer.

Colour appears different from the tin.

Colour can vary depending on lighting conditions and the surface it's applied to. Ensure at least two coats have been applied for true colour depth. Allow paint to fully cure for colour to settle.

Setup, Compatibility & Care Instructions

Preparation: Ensure surfaces are clean, dry, and free from grease or loose material. Lightly sanding glossy surfaces can improve adhesion, though the paint is self-priming. For problematic surfaces like very slick plastics, a dedicated primer might still be beneficial.

Application: Stir the paint thoroughly before use. Apply using a good quality brush or roller. Two coats are recommended for best results and durability, allowing adequate drying time between coats. The paint is suitable for a wide range of materials including furniture, woodwork, laminate, powder-coated radiators, metal, uPVC, ceramic wall tiles, kitchen cupboards, front doors, and interior wood and concrete floors.

Compatibility: This paint is designed for multi-purpose use and adheres well to many substrates. Avoid application in very wet areas like shower surrounds. It is compatible with EN71-3 certification standards for safety on toys.

Care: Clean brushes and equipment immediately after use with warm soapy water. For the painted surface, clean with a damp cloth. For stubborn marks, use a mild detergent and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners or excessive scrubbing, especially on newly painted surfaces.
