Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup:
- Identify Current Leads: Before removal, carefully note the routing and connection of each existing ignition lead. Taking pictures can be helpful.
- Remove Old Leads: Disconnect the leads one by one from the spark plugs and the distributor cap/ignition coil. Avoid pulling on the cable itself; use the boot for leverage.
- Install New Leads: Connect the new leads according to your notes or pictures. Ensure the SAE connectors click securely onto the spark plugs and the DIN connectors snap firmly onto the distributor cap and ignition coil.
- Route Carefully: Ensure leads are routed away from hot engine parts and moving components to prevent damage.

Care:
- Regular Inspection: Periodically check the ignition leads for any signs of damage, such as cracks, tears, or brittleness in the insulation. Also, inspect the boots and connectors for dirt or corrosion.
- Cleaning: If leads appear dirty, clean them gently with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners.
- Replacement Interval: It is generally recommended to consider replacing ignition leads every 40,000-60,000 miles, or sooner if any signs of wear or performance issues are detected.
