The Shimano CN-HG54 10-Speed HG-X Chain features a directional design with specially shaped inner and outer plates for optimized shifting on the chainset and cassette. Its outer plate design minimizes chain suck, while the inner plate enhances gear contact for smoother shifting under high load, ensuring efficient pedaling, increased rigidity, and near-silent operation. This Hyperglide (HG-X) series 10-speed directional Dyna-Sys compatible chain is designed for 10-speed MTB drivetrains. The open design of the inner links aids mud shedding. Durability is enhanced by chromising treatment on link pins and heat treatment of rollers, pins, and plates. The mushrooming of the pins provides superior side-plate retention, allowing the chain to significantly exceed BS/ISO standards for breaking force. It has a corrosion-resistant grey finish on inner and outer plates. This specific variant has 114 links and weighs approximately 300g.
