Product Information

Full details

The Cult Tackle DPM 3-Fold Mat is designed for the roving angler who prioritizes mobility, lightweight gear, and fish safety. It is an ideal choice for stalking, surface fishing, or river angling sessions where space is limited and frequent movement is required. While its compact, tri-fold design makes it exceptionally easy to carry on a rucksack, the trade-off is a smaller overall surface area compared to large, framed carp cradles.

FAQs

Is this mat suitable for large carp?

While it offers excellent protection, it is best suited for roving and smaller species; very large carp may exceed the dimensions of the mat.

Can I fit this inside a standard rucksack?

It is designed to be compact, but it is typically best carried strapped to the outside of a rucksack using the included fastening system.

How do I secure the mat on a steep bank?

Utilize the D-ring loops on the ends with sturdy ground pegs to prevent the mat from sliding down the slope.

Is the fabric waterproof?

The mat is constructed with durable, water-resistant materials, but it should still be dried thoroughly after use.

What is the best way to store the mat between sessions?

Store it in a cool, dry place, ideally unfolded or loosely folded, ensuring it is fully dry to prevent damage to the material.

Troubleshooting

Mat does not stay flat on uneven ground

Use the integrated D-ring loops and heavy-duty pegs to anchor the ends of the mat securely.

Elasticated straps feel loose over time

Ensure no debris is caught in the fastenings and check if the elastic has lost tension; if so, contact Cult Tackle for potential replacements.

Difficulty cleaning dried mud from the surface

Use a soft brush and warm water to gently scrub the surface before rinsing; avoid harsh chemical cleaners.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Extremely portable and lightweight for mobile anglers
Thick foam padding ensures reliable protection for fish
Quick setup and breakdown with elasticated fasteners
Convenient storage pouch for small tools
Secure pegging points prevent sliding on riverbanks

Cons

Less surface area than bulky framed cradles
Not suitable for exceptionally large specimen fish
Requires manual cleaning and drying after use in mud

Setup, Compatibility & Care

Setup is straightforward: simply release the elasticated fastenings, unfold the three segments, and lay the mat flat on the ground. If you are fishing on a steep bank, use the D-rings at either end to stake the mat down with standard bivvy pegs.

Care instructions involve rinsing the mat with fresh water after each session to remove grit, mud, and slime. Always ensure the mat is completely air-dried in a shaded area before folding it for long-term storage to prevent mold or odors. Avoid leaving the mat in direct, harsh sunlight for extended periods to preserve the integrity of the foam and the outer fabric.
