FAQs

Is the fly mask included with this product?

No, the Woof Wear UV Nose Protector is sold separately and requires a Woof Wear UV Fly Mask to be functional.

Can I use this without a fly mask?

No, the design relies on the attachment points found on Woof Wear fly masks to stay in place.

Does this provide 100% protection from the sun?

It blocks up to 60% of UVA and UVB rays; for full coverage in high-UV environments, it is recommended to use alongside horse-friendly sunblock.

How do I choose the right size?

Select the size (XS, S, M, or L) that corresponds to the size of your existing Woof Wear UV Fly Mask.

How often should I wash the protector?

Wash as needed, particularly if it becomes caked in dirt or mud, which could cause skin irritation.

Troubleshooting

Protector shifting during turnout

Ensure the hook and loop fasteners are pressed firmly together and that the fly mask itself is adjusted to the correct tension.

Signs of rubbing on the horse's nose

Check that the protector is properly positioned and not catching on the horse's hair; ensure the mask is not too tight.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • High level of UV blockage for sensitive noses
  • Soft 3D fabric prevents rubbing and soreness
  • Ergonomic fit allows normal grazing and breathing
  • Easy to attach to existing fly masks
  • Lightweight and breathable material

Cons

  • Requires a separate Woof Wear fly mask for use
  • Not a replacement for sunblock in extreme conditions
  • Size must be matched to the specific horse's nose and mask size

Setup, Compatibility & Care

To set up the protector, simply align the hook and loop attachments on the protector with the corresponding points on your Woof Wear UV Fly Mask. Ensure the protector is securely fastened but not tight against the nostrils to allow for unrestricted breathing. The product is compatible with all models within the Woof Wear UV Fly Mask line. To clean, rinse with cool water or hand wash with mild soap and air dry to maintain the integrity of the fabric's UV-blocking properties.
