Setup, Compatibility & Care
Planting: Choose a location with partial shade or filtered sunlight. Ensure the soil is well-draining; amend heavy clay soils with organic matter like compost. Azaleas generally prefer acidic soil conditions. When planting, dig a hole twice the width of the root ball and just as deep. Gently loosen the roots before placing the plant in the hole, ensuring the top of the root ball is level with the surrounding soil. Backfill with soil and water thoroughly.
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during the first growing season and dry periods. Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, but also prevent waterlogging.
Pruning: Prune immediately after the flowering period to maintain the plant's shape and size. Remove any dead or damaged branches at any time.
Soil: Prefers acidic, well-draining soil. Consider using a fertilizer formulated for acid-loving plants if needed.
