Setup, Compatibility & Care
Setup: Simply plug the Type A male end of the extension cable into a USB port on your computer or USB hub, and then plug your existing USB device's cable into the Type A female end of the extension. Ensure the connection is snug.
Compatibility: This cable is designed for USB 2.0 devices. It is crucial to verify with your device's manufacturer manual if it supports USB extension cables. Devices like external hard drives, some flash drives, and specific proprietary cables (e.g., iPhone charging cables) may not be compatible with passive extension cables. The total length of the USB connection (original cable + extension cable) should ideally not exceed 5 meters to maintain optimal performance. For lengths beyond 5 meters, an *active* USB extension cable is recommended.
Care: To maintain the cable's performance and longevity:
- Avoid sharp bends or kinks in the cable.
- Keep connectors clean and free from dust and debris. Gently wipe with a dry, lint-free cloth if necessary.
- Do not expose the cable to excessive moisture or extreme temperatures.
- Store the cable properly when not in use to prevent damage.
